The Offline Journal

Stories that started by showing up.

Written after the weekend, by the people who were there. Friendship, travel and belonging — without pretending every good evening has to become a romance.

How this page works

One entry at a time, and only with a yes.

Every entry here is written after a trip or a dinner has actually happened — by a host, a trip captain, or a member who offered — and published only once they've read it back and agreed to it. Names appear when the writer wants them to, and not otherwise.

You won't find star ratings, member counts or quotes we can't stand behind. If a weekend didn't happen, there's no entry about it. That keeps this page shorter than most, and truer than most.

The journal

Notes from the weekends behind us.

Long enough to be worth reading. Short enough to finish before the coffee goes cold.

Editor's note

Why this page starts almost empty

We'd rather publish one entry that actually happened than twelve that simply read well.

Most community pages open with a wall of five-star quotes. Ours doesn't, and that's deliberate. Everything in this journal is written after the weekend it describes, by someone who was in the room, and goes up only once they've read it back and said yes.

That means the page fills slowly. A trip has to run, everyone has to get home, and somebody has to feel like writing it down. We think that's the right order — a page of invented enthusiasm would tell you nothing about what a Friday with us is actually like.

So take this as an index that is still being written. The trips are the real thing to look at; the entries follow them, a few weeks behind.

Been somewhere with us? Write it down.

A paragraph is plenty. Tell us what you actually remember — the drive up, the long dinner, the person you didn't expect to still be texting. We'll only use your name if you ask us to.

We read everything. We publish slowly, and never without a yes.
